Manchester City vs. Tottenham - Pick of the Day
Saturday, September 10, 2022 - 12:30PM ET
Aside from my obvious Spurs bias, I also feel obligated to mention that I selected this for our “Pick of the Day” because it’s clearly the most important match of the weekend. I still like the bet quite a bit, but there’s more going into this than just “pure value” so keep that in mind and adjust accordingly (or ignore me completely, that’s fine I suppose).
City and Spurs are now the only teams left in the EPL who haven’t lost, and both sit one point behind an Arsenal side whose stock is rapidly declining now that their run of bottom-tier opponents has ended. And, while City are clearly the better side here on the whole, they’ve shown some concerning flaws as of late and don’t look as impenetrable as they once were.
In fact, I think the addition of Erling Haaland’s insane quality simply pushes them forward more knowing that they have the ability to score three on any team, and it can leave City overexposed at the back. That’s why, after some simple calculus, we’re taking both teams to score. City should be able to find the net against a Spurs defense that can't help but concede to almost everyone, but Tottenham’s offensive talent is still frightening and they have the speed to expose City on the counter. Spurs have actually won the last three matches between these sides, and, while I don't expect them to make it four at the Etihad, they should find at least one goal. Let's build some bankroll here at -152.
PICK: Both Teams To Score (-152 at Caesars, 1.5 units)
