Phillies vs. Blue Jays Best Bets

Wednesday, September 21, 2022 - 6:45PM ET

PICK: Blue Jays - Phillies Over 8 (-115)

PICK: Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)

The Philadelphia Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays conclude their quick 2 game series tonight at Citizens Bank Park, and we suggest you jump on our exclusive BetMGM offer ➡️ here ⬅️, where you get $20 free and a risk-free bet up to $1,000 if you're a new customer.

Last night's game brought memories of the '93 World Series as the Blue Jays defeated the Phillies 18-11. Both bullpens got plenty of action as neither starter lasted past the 5th inning.

In the standings, the Blue Jays have a 2.5 game lead on the Tampa Bay Rays for the top American League Wild Card spot and the Phillies, despite the loss, hold a 2.5 game lead on the Milwaukee Brewers for the final National League Wild Card Spot.

Tonight's pitching matchup is Kevin Gausmann (12-10, 3.45 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP) vs. Zac Wheeler (11-7, 3.07 ERA and 1.08 WHIP). Wheeler is making his first start since August 20th and Phillies manager Rob Thomson already said he will be limited, which leaves another night of the Philly bullpen getting innings'.

Their pen has struggled lately, as they have a 4.99 ERA over the last 30 days, which is 4th highest in the majors. Kevin Gausman, himself, is coming off 2 starts in which he has given up a total of 10 earned runs.

I think this total is a little too low and I expect another night of runs at Citizens Bank park. I am also going to add Byrce Harper to go over his total bases mark.

Harper is 8/15 vs Gausman with a Home Run. He has hit this mark in 48% of his home games this season and fares very well against right handed pitching, with a .316 batting average and a .275 ISO, so bet Blue Jays - Phillies Over 8 (-115) and Bryce Harper Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110) with BetMGM ➡️ here ⬅️ and claim an awesome new customer bonus while you're at it.
