Cubs vs. Nationals Best Bets
Tuesday, August 16, 2022 - 7:05 pm ET
PICK: Chicago Cubs First 5 Innings Team Total Over 2.5 (-115)
PICK: Ian Happ Over 1.5 Total Bases (+135)
We've enjoyed going against Patrick Corbin all season long and you might want to join in and take advantage of our exclusive BetMGM offer ➡️ here ⬅️, where you get $20 free and a risk-free bet up to $1,000 if you're a new customer looking to go after the southpaw with us.
The Nationals are once again sending the league's worst pitcher to the bump in Game 2 of this series against the Cubs, so we'll just go ahead and say "Happy Corbin Day!"
Washington skipped Corbin's last start so he has had nine days of rest, but it most likely will not make a difference. On the season, the Nationals' lefty is 4-16 with a 7.02 ERA, a 1.82 WHIP and an OBA of .331. Corbin has not gotten out of the first inning in two of his last three starts, and opposing teams have hit this first 5 inning team total mark in each of his last six starts. He's just really lacking in confidence right now.
Cubs center fielder Ian Happ has had some success against Corbin. Happ is 3 for 8 lifetime against him, with a double and a home run. Happ is also hitting .330 against lefties this season and has hit his total bases prop in three of four against the Nationals and seven of his last 10 games overall. I like Happ and the Cub bats to get to Corbin early tonight.
