MLB Best Betting Picks and Predictions for Mets vs. Nationals on Monday, August 1, 2022

Tone looks to get the week started the right way with his MLB best bet from the Monday, August 1st, 2022 slate, featuring the New York Mets and Washington Nationals clashing at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

Today's MLB best bets and odds for Mets vs. Nationals on this Monday, the 1st of August 2022, are proudly brought to you by BetMGM Sportsbook.

Before Tone shares his wisdom, our MLB predictive analytics model DimersBOT thinks the Mets have a 64% chance to win on the money line and a 52% shot at covering the run line against the Nationals. The Over/Under for this game is rated a 51% chance of going Over 8.5 runs.

These probabilities will continue to update right up until the first pitch, so keep an eye on them and see if you can get yourself some value. Speaking of value, you can get a $1,000 risk-free bet ➡️ here ⬅️ with BetMGM. And if you're not eligible for that offer, you can also turn $5 into $100 for betting on MLB with DraftKings!

  • 51% Mets-Nationals goes Over 8.5 total runs

Mets vs. Nationals Best Bets

Monday August 1, 2022 7:05 pm ET

PICK: Mets Over 2.5 runs in First 5 Innings (-125)
PICK: Mets Team Total Over 5 (-120)

The Mets are on a six-game winning streak and now face the Nationals, who are losers of three of their last four. This is a great match-up for New York and that means you might want to get in on BetMGM's risk-free bet of up to $1,000 ➡️ here ⬅️!

With that out of the way, we can now celebrate Patrick Corbin Day! This is the only day where I don't mind laying some juice. The Nationals southpaw has been absolutely atrocious this season, as he is 4-14 with a 6.49 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and an OBA of .324.

Corbin is coming off a start where he gave up six earned runs in .2 innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has now given up 21 earned runs over his last four starts. Opposing teams have cashed their First 5 inning team totals in 13 of his 21 starts this season. The Mets also got to Corbin for seven runs in 4.1 innings in late May.

Behind Corbin is a bullpen that has struggled all season long. Washington's pen has the eighth-highest ERA in the majors at 4.19. Over the last 30 days, the Nationals bullpen has the third-highest ERA at 5.24.

I'm keeping it simple and fading Corbin tonight. I think the Mets will get the bats going immediately in this one.
