Nationals vs. Phillies Best Bets

Sunday, August 7, 2022 - 1:35 pm ET

PICK: Aaron Nola 7+ K's & Phillies To Win (+110)

The Phillies have a shot at earning the four-game sweep over the Nationals tonight, and it's just hard to see Philadelphia running into much trouble here. That makes this a good time to get in on our exclusive BetMGM offer ➡️ here ⬅️ where you get $20 free and a risk-free bet up to $1,000 if you're a new customer. Playing a mismatch like this one tonight is exactly what these offers are for.

The Phillies have outscored the Nationals 23-11 in this series and they are coming off an 11-5 win last night. Nola gets the call for Philadelphia in the finale, and the righty is 7-8 with a 3.25 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and an OBA .218 on the season. Needless to say, he's a bit better than his overall record suggests.

At home this season, Nola's ERA is 4.48 but the Nationals are depleted having lost Juan Soto and Josh Bell via trade earlier in the week. Meanwhile, Nola has hit at least seven strikeouts in 14-of-21 starts this season, including seven of his last eight. He's really in a groove at the moment.

The Nationals will send Cory Abbot to the mound and he has given up 14 earned runs in 26.1 career innings. The Nationals bullpen also has a 5.77 ERA over the last 30 days, which is second-worst in the majors. I like Nola and the Phils to complete the sweep today.
