Phillies vs. Reds Best Bets

Monday, August 15, 2022 - 6:40 pm ET

PICK: Phillies Team Total Over 5 Runs (-118)

In tonight's meeting between the Phillies and Reds, we have a good offense going against a struggling pitcher and that means we have an edge we really like. With that in mind, you might want to get in on our exclusive BetMGM offer ➡️ here ⬅️ where you get $20 free and a risk-free bet up to $1,000 if you're a new customer.

The Phillies begin a three-game series against the Reds tonight and Philadephia is coming off a road series against the New York Mets in which the team managed to only score two runs against Max Scherzer, Jacob deGrom and Chris Bassitt. But things should be much different tonight as the Phillies get a crack at Mike Minor.

The Reds lefty has a 1-9 record with a 6.24 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP and an OBA of .276 this season. The Phillies are one of the best hitting teams against southpaws this season, as they have a team batting average of .258 and they average 4.89 runs per 9 against lefties. On the road, they are also hitting .262 and averaging 5.43 runs per 9 against southpaws.

Free agent signee Nick Castellanos also happens to make his return to Cincinnati in this one. Castellanos has struggled in his first season in Philadelphia but hopefully this series can give him a much-needed jolt. Philadelphia currently has a 1.5-game lead on the Milwaukee Brewers for the final wild-card spot in the National League and with another series with the Mets on deck later in the week, the team will look to take care of business here, starting tonight against one of the worst pitchers in the majors.
