Rockies vs. Padres Best Bets

Thursday, August 4, 2022 - 4:10 pm ET

PICK: Padres Team Total Over 4.5 (-122)
PICK: Brandon Drury Over 1.5 Total Bases (+140)

The revamped Padres conclude a rare five-game series with the Rockies when the two meet in California this afternoon. San Diego has won the first four games in this set, and the team will be eager to earn a five-game sweep in this spot. That makes this a good time to claim the exclusive BetMGM get $20 free + a risk-free bet up to $1,000 offer, just for signing up with their world-class sportsbook. You can find that offer HERE.

The Padres have won the first four games of this series by a combined score of 29-9. At the deadline, the team also added Brandon Drury, Josh Bell and Juan Soto to an already dangerous offense. This new lineup led San Diego to a 13-run performance last night and we think the run production will continue today against Kyle Freeland.

The Rockies southpaw is 6-7 on the season with a 4.63 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and an OBA of .264. While he has much better numbers on the road — something that is true of most Colorado starters — he has given up 11 earned runs in 17 innings against San Diego this season. The Padres are also 11th in run production against left-handed pitching this year. And behind Freeland is a bullpen that has the fourth-highest ERA in baseball over the last 30 days. With that in mind, bank on San Diego getting at least five runs in the series finale.

We are also going to look at Drury to hit his total bases props in this one, and it's generously priced at +140. Drury is 5 for 10 in his career against Freeland, with a gouble and a home run. He has also crushed left-handed pitching all season, as he is hitting .309 and has an ISO of .361 against them. In his Padres debut, Drury was 1 for 3 with a home run. Look for him to get his looks again tonight, and don't be surprised if he helps you cash in, in a big way. He's in the midst of a career year and his ability to beat up on southpaws is a big part of the reason that San Diego had to have him.
