Canucks vs. Wild Best Bets

Thursday, October 20, 2022 - 8:00PM ET

PICK: Canucks at Wild Over 6.5 (-130)

The Vancouver Canucks conclude their season opening road trip as they visit the Minnesota Wild tonight at the Xcel Energy Center and BetMGM will give new users $200 when they register an account ➡️ here ⬅️ and then simply place a $10 money line bet on any team. From there you will score $200 in free bets as soon as there's a goal.

Both teams are looking for the first wins of the season but the Canucks have made history during their 4 game winless streak. Vancouver is the first team in NHL history to blow multiple goal leads in 4 consecutive games to open a season.

The Canucks have started fast but just have not been able to seal the deal. In the early going, Vancouver is averaging 3 goals per game but they are allowing 4.5 goals per game. The Canucks also have the league's 2nd worst Penalty Kill as they sit at 57%, as they have given up 6 Power Play goals.

The Minnesota Wild have, uncharacteristically, lost their first 3 home games, averaging 4 goals per game and allowing a league high, 6.67 goals per game.

The Wild's Penalty Kill is not much better than Vancouver's as they sit at 69%. The goalie matchup is projected to be Thatcher Demko vs Marc-Abdre Fleury. Demko has a save percentage of .847 and Fleury has a save percentage of .776.

While both teams will eventually figure out the defensive side of the game, I am not banking on it being tonight as both are desperate for a win and will look to push the pace in this contest.

I usually don't lay this juice, especially on a 6.5, but I feel this is warranted tonight and will back the Over 6.5 goals (-130) with BetMGM.
