The Carolina Hurricanes conclude their brief two game road swing against the Chicago Blackhawks tonight, at United Center. The Canes are 9-5-1 on the season and sit in 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division.
Carolina is coming off a 4-1 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, in Colorado on Saturday night. Carolina's offense has had trouble finding consistency this season as they are only averaging 3 goals per game.
On the road that number slips to 2.67 goals per game. They are getting goals from familiar faces as Martin Necas, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov have done a bulk of their goal scoring.
They are still a team that finds a good amount of opportunities however. Carolina is 4th in the league in shots per game (36) and 4th in High Danger Scoring Chances (176) and their XGF% is 2nd in the league (60.27%).
Carolina gets an opponent tonight that they have feasted on recently in the Chicago Blackhawks. The Hurricanes have scored at least 4 goals in 8 of their last 10 meetings with the Blackhawks while averaging 4.1 goals per game in that span.
On the season, the Blackhawks have been somewhat of a surprise as they are allowing 3 goals per game and are in the top in High Danger Scoring chances against. I do not think the Hawks can sustain that however and think this is a good spot for this Canes' offense to put goals on the board.
