Oilers vs. Capitals Best Bets

Two superstars go head to head tonight as Connor McDavid and the Oilers visit Ovechkin and the Capitals, at Capital One Arena. The Caps have been ravaged with injuries this season, as they are missing key pieces such as TJ Oshie, Nik Backstrom, John Carlson, and Tom Wilson. Washington is 5-6-2 on the season and they are coming off a 3-2 home loss to the lowly Arizona Coyotes on Saturday night.
The Oilers, who are playing just their fourth road game, are 7-5 on the season but are coming off back-to-back home losses to the Stars and the Devils. The Oilers will embark on a four-game road trip tonight as they look to get off on the right foot. The Oilers are usually a very strong road team, as they have won all three of the road games this season. Last season, they were 21-15-5, which included a 5-3 win in Washington.
The Oilers have scored 12 goals in their road games this season and have only allowed eight. At home, the Caps are averaging 3.1 goals per game and also allowing 3.1 goals per game. We think the Caps are going to have a tough time keeping up with the Oilers tonight, as Edmonton's depth should be the difference. We'll back the Oilers -1 and hope for a two-goal win.
I am also going to back Ovechkin to go over his SOG prop. There are not many options on this Caps team, due to the injuries, and you know Ovie will be doing whatever he can to put pucks on net. Ovechkin has hit this mark in four of his last seven games and is coming off a six-shot, 13-attempt performance in Saturday's loss to Arizona. It's also important to note that the Oilers are giving up 38 shots per game in their limited road action this season. We'll take plus-money on this all day long.
