Guardians vs. Royals, 1:35PM ET

Cleveland got their very first win under their new moniker yesterday with a blasting 17-3 result over Kansas City in an indication that after two down games, they may finally unlocked the Royals' run defense. Today Aaron Civale will be taking the mound for the Guardians, and he was one of their best last season, notching a 12-5 record. We're expecting this series to level up.

Mets vs. Phillies, 6:45PM ET

Barring a stumble against the Nationals on Sunday, the Mets have by-and-large lived up to some of the preseason hype to open up the year - but they face a real litmus test today against a good team. Tijuan Walker will be handed the ball for his first start of the year, and in many ways, this is a litmus test for him personally as well. Walker was awful after All-Star break last season, but we saw the kind of form in the first half of the season that got him to that very All-Star Game in the first place. If he can get back to that level, New York have more than enough to claim a plus money victory.

Padres vs. Giants, 9:45PM ET

The Padres did what they needed to, winning their opening weekend series 3-1 against the lowly Diamondbacks, but they'll face a major step up in class tonight against the Giants and their star man, Alex Wood. Wood was dominant in 2021 with a 10-4 record and 3.83 ERA as San Francisco became a legitimate threat in the National League. If he keeps that kind of form up, he'll restrict the San Diego hitters and allow his offense get on top.
