To find these home run props, we are going to use multiple Dimers tools to identify players with the best chances to go yard.
Combining our hitter and pitcher projections with our MLB player prop tool and even our early-season MLB trends is an ideal way to narrow down a full slate of players to a handful of top targets.
1. Junior Caminero (Rays) to hit a home run (+342)
Game: Cubs vs. Rays
Time: 6:40 PM ET
First up, we'll look to target the pitcher projected for the third-most earned runs allowed today, the Cubs' Colin Rea, who has given up 20+ home runs in three straight seasons.
Rea will face the Rays lineup with Junior Caminero batting cleanup. Caminero hit 45 home runs , playing in his first full season last year, with two through 11 games so far, with a 17.5% probability to go yard today by the Dimers model, the highest in this game.
Rea primarily uses a two-pitch mix vs. righthanded batters so far this season, 4-seam and slider, the two pitches that Caminero hit best last year.
2. Eugenio Suarez (Reds) to hit a home run (+428)
Game: Reds vs. Marlins
Time: 6:40 PM ET
Not all home runs are created equal and sometimes a well-hit ball can be influenced by outside factors, preventing a would-be home run.
Marlins starter Eury Perez is an example of this through his first two starts. According to MLB's statcast, Perez ranks 6th in MLB for the most expected home runs, and the three home runs he has allowed would be gone in all 30 MLB parks.
He projects for the fewest outs recorded today at 14.3, with our model predicting him to get chased from the game and Eugenio Suarez looks like the player to target for a home run, leading this game with a 15.4% home run probability.
Suarez had his second 49-HR campaign last year and seventh with 30+ home runs. He's clubbed a pair through his first 11 games back in Cincinnati and matches up decently well with Perez's primary two-pitch mix, coming off his best year ever hitting the slider.
3. Austin Wells (Yankees) to hit a home run (+670)
Game: Athletics vs. Yankees
Time: 7:05 PM ET
Our final pick is the best Dimers home run prop of the day, giving us both an edge and a solid probability in what we expect to be a favorable matchup for the Yankees lineup.
We predict a 60.2% probability of A's starter and former Yankee Luis Severino allowing at least 3 ER, with the fourth-highest projection on the slate.
The Dimers model loves the Yankees bats tonight, with four players projected at 18% or higher for a home run, but just below them is Austin Wells at 16.4%. He's looking for his first home run this season after his career high of 21 last year.
He hasn't been hitting well, but his struggles have mostly been vs. lefties, where he's hitless, and Severino is a RHP who primarily deploys three pitches, two of which Wells hit best last year (sinker, cutter).
Our model says Wells should be +510 at best, meanwhile we can get him at +670 on DraftKings for a big edge, as seen in the Dimers App.
