Sunday Night Baseball takes us all the way to the Bay Area where the Oakland Athletics will be looking to build on their shock triumph over the Yankees yesterday that ended New York's 13-game winning streak.

Yankees vs. Athletics

BEST BET: Total runs UNDER 9 with PointsBet (-108)

The A's finally busted the streak yesterday while also correcting a 6-game slide on their end. The win wasn't totally a surprise to those who have followed the series between these two this week. With Friday's game excepted, the A's have been competitive throughout the weekend and got their just rewards.

Tonight, the stars are aligning for a similar scoreline to the 3-2 result from yesterday with Yankees pitcher Jordan Montgomery charged with the task of getting NY back on track. Montgomery has been good value lately, going for an average of 5.1 innings per start with a nice ERA of 3.07 in his last three games. His strikeout average of 8.90 per game is also extremely impressive and enough to sway us to believe that runs will be hard to come by for Oakland.

Opposing him on the bump will be Paul Blackburn who is a much better performer in front of his home fans in Oakland than he is on the road - averaging a 3.18 ERA in the Bay. 

We're expecting things to be tense and an ultimately low scoring affair.

While we were just swooning over Montgomery's strikeout average, he also does average at least one home run per game. We've got A's hitter Matt Olsen being the one to go yard in this one.
