The projection shows what that player is projected to post in that statistical category for that matchup. The probability shows you the chances Dimers projects for that bet to win 100 times out of 100. The edge tells you the positive difference between our probability and the implied probability of the best odds listed on the card. Think of the edge as an indication of how much value you’re getting on the prop bet, based on our in-house probabilities and stat projections.

What makes a +EV NBA prop bet

An NBA player prop is a bet on an individual player's performance in a game, such as their points, rebounds, or assists. A +EV prop bet is one where our model gives the outcome a higher probability than the sportsbook's odds imply, creating positive expected value.

For example, if a sportsbook offers over 24.5 points at -110, the implied probability is 52.4%. If our model gives over a 58% probability, that's a 5.6% edge: the model estimates the outcome is more likely than the price suggests.

Each Dimers NBA player prop includes three key numbers:

• Probability: Our model's estimated likelihood that the prop will hit, calculated independently of the sportsbook's line.
• Edge: The difference between our model probability and the implied probability of the best available odds, expressed as a percentage.
• Best Odds: The highest available price we've found for that player prop. The edge shown on each card is based on these odds.

Together, these numbers show where our model identifies potential +EV opportunities in the NBA player prop market.

How our model projects NBA player props

Our NBA player props come from our pre-match machine learning model. It projects each player's stat line for every upcoming game, and we derive a probability for each prop line from those projections. 

The model is updated daily and combines five key inputs to project a player's expected performance: 

• Rolling player averages: Recent form and longer-term production help establish a baseline for each player.
• Projected minutes: Expected minutes account for changes to a player’s role, including potential impacts from injuries and lineup changes.
• Positional matchups: Opposition strength and positional matchups help adjust projections for the specific game.
• Home court advantage: Comparing projections with public sportsbook markets helps identify potential discrepancies between our projections and available prices.
• Confirmed availability: We account for whether a player is confirmed to be available when projecting their expected performance and statistical output. 

The model projects every player expected to see the court in an upcoming game, providing a broader view of likely statistical outputs across the roster.

A 60% probability means our model estimates a 60% chance that the projected outcome will occur. It does not mean the prop is guaranteed to hit or that exactly six out of every 10 individual bets will win. Probability describes the model's estimated likelihood for that outcome, while the available odds determine whether the prop may offer positive expected value.

• Points: Point totals are driven by scoring role, usage, expected minutes, shooting efficiency, and the matchup against the opposing defense.
• Rebounds: Rebound totals depend on expected playing time, a player’s rebounding opportunities, and the likely number of missed shots available to be collected on both ends of the court.
• Assists: Assist totals are influenced by a player’s role as a facilitator, ball-handling responsibilities, passing opportunities, and the scoring efficiency of their teammates.
• 3-pointers made: Made threes are driven by three-point volume, shooting efficiency, expected minutes, and the quality of perimeter opportunities available in the matchup.
• Steals and blocks: Defensive props depend on playing time, defensive role, and opportunities to create steals or challenge shots, with matchup context also affecting those chances.
• Turnovers: Turnover totals are influenced by usage, time on the ball, passing responsibilities, defensive pressure, and the player's expected workload.
• First basket: First basket props depend on starting lineups, early offensive roles, shot opportunities, and the ways teams typically initiate their offense.
