NBA futures odds and 2026-27 championship probabilities
Who has the best chance of winning the 2026-27 NBA championship and lifting the Larry O’Brien Trophy? The market has its view, and we simulate the season 10,000 times to estimate each team’s championship probability.
Our NBA futures put those numbers side by side, so you can quickly see how sportsbooks and prediction markets are pricing each team and how our model rates their chances of winning the title.
Use the Championship tab to compare NBA title odds, or switch to Win Conference to see the market for each conference. Prices can move throughout the season as teams win, lose, make trades, deal with injuries, and change their outlook.
Only the top three teams’ probabilities are free in each tab, while Dimers Pro unlocks the full list.
Compare NBA futures odds across sportsbooks and prediction markets
Use the futures table above to compare prices before you bet.
The same championship outcome can be available at different prices depending on the sportsbook or prediction market, so checking multiple markets can change the potential return.
Comparing prices also helps you see whether the number you are being offered is in line with the wider market.
What are NBA futures bets?
NBA futures are bets on an outcome that will be decided later in the season. The most familiar example is backing a team to win the NBA championship, but conference futures are another common market. Unlike a single-game wager, a futures bet can stay open for months before it is settled.
That timing matters. A team can change substantially between the opening week and the playoffs through injuries, trades, lineup changes, and results on the court, and the price can change with it. A championship bet placed before the season may not settle until the NBA Finals, so your stake is unavailable for other bets during that time.
How to read NBA futures odds
NBA futures are available through sportsbooks and prediction markets, and the two use different pricing models.
- Read sportsbook American odds: A positive number shows how much profit a $100 stake would make, while a negative number shows how much you need to risk making $100 in profit.
- Understand the payout: +500 means a $100 bet would make $500 in profit, for a total return of $600. -200 means you would need to stake $200 to make $100 in profit, for a $300 total return.
- Convert odds to implied probability: A +500 line implies a 16.7% probability, while -200 implies 66.7%. This figure comes from the sportsbook price and is not the same as our model probability.
- Account for sportsbook margin: Sportsbooks build margin, or vig, into their prices, so the implied probabilities across all possible championship outcomes will generally add up to more than 100%.
- Understand prediction-market pricing: Prediction markets use contracts rather than traditional sportsbook odds. A contract priced at 60 cents represents a market-implied probability of roughly 60%. Prediction markets do not build sportsbook-style vig into opposing outcomes, although trading fees and bid-ask spreads can still affect the cost of a trade.
- Know the difference: Sportsbook odds and prediction-market prices give you different ways to assess the market for an NBA futures outcome. Availability varies depending on where you live and which markets are offered.
The next step is comparing those market prices with our model probabilities to see where the numbers differ. That's the focus of the section below.
How our NBA futures probabilities work
Our model uses the Monte Carlo method and simulates the NBA season 10,000 times using official schedules, rosters, and advanced team ratings. Ratings factor in form, opponent strength, home-court advantage, player efficiency, and injury data.
The five inputs are form, opponent strength, home-court advantage, player efficiency, and injury data. After those season simulations, the model calculates how often each team wins the championship. The resulting probability is the number shown in the futures table.
The model updates daily, so the probability can change as new results and information come in throughout the season.
How to find value in NBA futures betting
The hard part isn't picking a champion. It's deciding whether the price makes sense. Our model gives you another probability to compare with the market, while sportsbook and prediction-market prices show what you're actually being asked to pay.
The basic comparison is straightforward: what does the sportsbook or prediction-market price imply, and what probability does our model assign?
- Compare the price with our model: Suppose a sportsbook lists a team at +600. That price implies a 14.3% probability of winning the championship before accounting for the sportsbook's margin. If our model puts the team at 18%, there is a 3.7 percentage-point difference between the two figures. That does not guarantee that the bet will win, but it gives you a reason to investigate the price.
- Shop around sportsbooks: A team priced at +500 at one sportsbook and +650 at another is the same outcome at two very different prices. The 150-point difference can make a meaningful difference to the potential return.
- Compare prediction-market prices: A contract trading at 60 cents represents a market-implied probability of roughly 60%. Unlike a sportsbook price, it does not include traditional sportsbook vig, although trading fees and the bid-ask spread can affect the effective cost of a trade.
- Account for sportsbook margin: A futures market contains multiple outcomes, so the implied probabilities across all teams can add up to more than 100%. Comparing one sportsbook price in isolation can hide that margin.
- Consider hedging carefully: A futures ticket that has increased in value can sometimes be offset by a later bet on another outcome. Whether that makes sense depends on the available prices, fees, and how much risk you want to keep.
The goal is to compare the available price with the outcome's probability and the costs of the market you're using. Our futures probabilities give you another number to consider alongside sportsbook and prediction-market prices.
Key dates for the 2026-27 NBA season
The 2026-27 calendar gives futures bettors several important points to watch as the season develops:
- October 20, 2026: Regular season begins.
- October 30-November 27, 2026: Emirates NBA Cup group play.
- December 4-11, 2026: NBA Cup knockout rounds and championship.
- February 11, 2027: NBA trade deadline.
- February 19-21, 2027: NBA All-Star Weekend.
- April 11, 2027: Regular season ends, with all 30 teams playing.
- April 13-16, 2027: NBA Play-In Tournament.
- April 18, 2027: NBA Playoffs begin.
- May 4, 2027: Conference semifinals begin.
- May 18-19, 2027: Conference finals begin.
- June 5, 2027: NBA Finals begin.
NBA futures prices can move whenever new information enters the market, but the trade deadline, the final weeks of the regular season, and the playoffs can be especially important. Roster moves, injuries, results, and playoff positioning can all change a team's expected path to the championship.
Once the playoffs begin, each series can reshape the remaining bracket and move championship and conference futures. Because series are best-of-seven, an underdog forcing a Game 6 or Game 7 can also change the expected path and prices for the teams still alive.

Responsible gambling
NBA futures bets can last a long time. A championship wager placed in October may stay open through the regular season, playoffs, and NBA Finals the following June.
Set a weekly or seasonal bankroll before you start and keep your stake within it. Don't add money simply because a futures ticket has moved against you, and don't increase your wager to chase a loss. The long time frame does not reduce the risk.

Your Questions Answered
How do NBA futures odds work?
NBA futures odds show the price for an outcome that will be decided later in the season. A positive price shows the profit on a $100 stake, while a negative price shows how much you need to risk making $100 in profit. For example, +500 returns $500 in profit on a $100 stake, while -200 requires a $200 stake to make $100 in profit.
You can convert the odds into an implied probability and compare that number with the model probability shown in the table. The two figures answer different questions: one comes from the market price, and the other comes from the model.
When can you bet NBA futures?
NBA futures can be available before the regular season begins and remain available during the season, depending on the market and sportsbook. Championship and conference futures are long-term markets, so the price can change substantially between the preseason and the postseason.
How often do our NBA futures probabilities update?
Our NBA futures probabilities update regularly throughout the day. The model incorporates new results and information as the season moves along, so a team's probability can change after games, injuries, trades, and other developments.
What's the difference between NBA Championship and NBA Conference futures?
An NBA Championship future is a bet on which team wins the NBA Finals. An NBA Conference future is a bet on which team wins either the Eastern or Western Conference and reaches the Finals. A conference bet settles before the championship market because the conference champion is determined before the NBA champion.
Can you hedge an NBA futures bet?
Yes. Hedging means placing a later bet on another outcome to reduce your exposure to the original futures ticket. For example, a team that you backed early might shorten dramatically after a strong season, giving you a chance to offset some of the original risk with another team.
The numbers matter. A hedge changes both your potential profit and your remaining risk, and the available prices can make the tradeoff vary significantly between situations.
