How we generate our NBA predictions & picks

Our NBA computer picks come straight from an AI-powered machine learning model solely focused on projecting final scores for each team in an upcoming matchup. These NBA computer predictions form the basis of our probabilities for the moneyline, spread, and game total.

We feed the model the following data sources:

• Player-level impact: Every player’s contribution is weighted, from attempted field goals to free throw percentages. Stat lines are generated based on projected minutes and recent performance trends.
• Matchup analysis: We look beyond team averages, examining how individual players line up against each other and how positions interact. This gives a deeper, more nuanced perspective on each game, from regulation to overtime.
• Home court advantage: The model considers the boost that teams usually receive when playing at home, adjusting expectations to reflect the difference between playing on the road and at home.

The model updates its predictions daily to ensure our numbers reflect confirmed player availability and any recent line movement.

How accurate are our NBA predictions & picks?

Our NBA model uses rolling averages from recent games rather than season averages, helping its projections reflect current performance. Players who are not expected to play are excluded, so the model works with accurate available lineups.

Those projected scores form the basis for probabilities across the moneyline, spread, and total markets. A 65% probability means the model estimates that this result would occur in approximately 65 out of 100 comparable scenarios. It does not mean the outcome is guaranteed or that exactly 65 of the next 100 bets will win.

At Dimers, our predictions show you the most probable outcome. But the most probable outcome isn't automatically a bet worth making. To identify value, you need to compare our NBA win probability with the price being offered: when the odds imply a lower probability than our model, that difference creates an edge.

NBA predictions against the spread and over/under

Our NBA predictions against the spread and over/under are both derived from our AI-powered model’s predicted final score. Rather than predicting each market independently, the model uses its expected score for each team as the starting point.

• Against the spread (ATS): The difference between the two projected final scores determines the model’s expected winning margin. We compare that projection with the sportsbook’s spread to calculate the probability of covering.
• Over/under: The projected final scores are added together to produce the model’s expected game total. We then compare that projection with the sportsbook’s total to calculate the probability of the game going over or under.

Because both markets come from the same underlying score projection, the ATS and over/under probabilities remain connected to the model’s view of how the game is expected to play out.
