Paige Bueckers' Injury Status on July 29, 2026.
The latest Paige Bueckers injury update is shifting Storm vs. Dream predictions on Wednesday, July 29th.

The wait for Wednesday's Dallas Wings–Atlanta Dream matchup has been defined by a steady run of player news, and the latest updates have prompted us to refresh our projection for the game.

The headline is Paige Bueckers. Dallas's star guard came out of the All-Star break sharp, logging extra work at practice and saying she's "feeling good" with 17 games left to play—and she leads a Wings team carrying a six-game win streak into a sold-out College Park Center.

The official game status report only sharpened the optimism in Arlington. Forward Alanna Smith is now listed probable (right leg), so Dallas expects to have her length and switchability back in the rotation. Atlanta, meanwhile, will be without guard Te-Hina Paopao (right leg), who is still working back from a pre-All-Star injury and is due to be re-evaluated in the coming weeks.

Every one of those developments breaks in Dallas's direction. And yet, once we folded them into the numbers, our model landed in the same place it started: the Atlanta Dream—who have already beaten the Wings twice this season—hold as narrow favorites on the road, and the Under stands out as the single strongest play on the board. Here's the full breakdown of why the data still leans Atlanta.

Wings vs. Dream prediction:

Our model's prediction is Atlanta to win a tight, low-scoring game, with a projected final of roughly 89-88 Dream.

The story going in is Dallas: Bueckers is healthy and humming—the Dimers model projects her for 20.1 points, 6.0 assists and 3.6 rebounds—and Jacy Shepard is filling the box score with a near triple-double line (16.9 points, 10.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists). Add a sold-out crowd, a six-game win streak and Alanna Smith cleared as probable, and it's easy to see why the building will be loud.

Bueckers coming out of the break in this kind of form is exactly what Dallas wanted, and getting Smith back as probable only helps. But Atlanta has already beaten this team twice, and our model still makes the Dream the pick—even on the road, even without Paopao.

The reason is the matchup. Atlanta answers Dallas's firepower with Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard and a double-double machine in Angel Reese, and with Paopao out, Jordin Canada carries the playmaking and still projects for a game-high 8.4 assists. On our numbers, Gray leads the Dream at 19.0 points, Howard adds 16.9 on three made threes, and Reese posts 15.9 points and 11.5 rebounds. The projection is essentially a coin flip that tips Atlanta's way: a 53% win probability and a projected margin of under a point.

That same model, though, is far more confident about the total than the side—which is where the real edge sits.

As always, these predictions and prices are accurate at the time of publication but are subject to change, with our early Wings-Dream betting preview also available.

Wings vs. Dream value bets:

The number that jumps off the page isn't the winner—it's the total. Our model projects just 176.4 combined points, more than three points below the market's 179.5 line, and that gap makes the Under the single best play in this game.

Wings vs. Dream best bet on the Under 179.5:

Our top play is the Under 179.5 (+104 at Novig, 49¢), which carries a +10.2% model edge—the largest on the board.

"That's the single best number on the board," Leaver said. "Two well-rested teams out of the break, a model total more than three points under the line, and a matchup Atlanta has controlled defensively twice already all point the same way. If Paopao's absence slows Atlanta's transition game even slightly, that only helps the Under."

Dallas Wings vs. Atlanta Dream parlay pick:

For a combined play, the model likes stacking the Under 179.5 with Atlanta +1.5, both on Novig, for a price around +281.

Suggested parlay—all legs on Novig. Combined odds +281 · Dimers model probability 35% · edge +8.6%.
