Three bets to make in the WNBA on Thursday, July 30
We've got a little theme going on with tonight's plays, featuring one UConn alum from each game.
Bet: Napheesa Collier 20+ points (+100 on FanDuel)
Game: Lynx vs. Tempo
Time: 8:00 PM ET
We start off with a bet on an MVP-caliber player who our model says is being undervalued by the books.
Naphessa Collier made her season debut after recovering from injury just before the All-Star Break, putting up a 24-point, 10-rebound double double in 22 minutes. She followed up with a 15-point game while playing 25 minutes against the Tempo, who she plays again tonight.
If the minutes trend continues, 'Phee has a great chance to capitalize on this matchup this time around, with Toronto owning the second-worst scoring defense and third-worst opponent FG%, carrying a Dimers projection of 22.1 points.
The Lync have rolled in Collier's absence, but one of the league's most elite scorers is back and the offense should funnel through their star.
This bet comes with a Dimers edge at 5.5% against the even money with a 55.5% probability for Collier to clear 19.5 points, also landing in one of our "Sweet Spots," where points props have returned a 5.8% ROI this season.
Bet: Olivia Nelson-Ododa 15+ points (+154 on FanDuel)
Game: Sun vs. Sky
Time: 8:00 PM ET
In the same tip-off window, we have a basement battle between two teams at the bottom of the standings.
Our target in this one is Olivia Nelson-Ododa, who has a great opportunity with fellow starting Center Brittney Griner out again. Projected for 12.5 points, Nelson-Ododa is behind only Leila Lacan at 12.8 points for Connecticut.
Nelson-Ododa isn't a premier scorer, but she's got the best FG% on the team and regularly hits double digits, clearing 15 points twice in her past five games. Her volume has increased since becoming a full-time starter, and with Griner out the past two games, she put up 10 shots in each and played the most minutes she has in a month with Griner out last game.
Chicago ranks 11th in opponent scoring and the Sun put up 92 points in their last meeting.
Bet: Breanna Stewart over 8.5 rebounds (+118 on FanDuel)
Game: Liberty vs. Aces
Time: 10:00 PM ET
What happens when three of the league's top rebounders all meet in one game?
Breanna Stewart (9th) and Jonquel Jones (6th) face A'ja Wilson (3rd) and the Aces in Las Vegas tonight. Stewart and Jones average similar numbers at 8.4 per game for Stewart and 9.1 for Jones. While Jones carries the higher ceiling on a nightly basis, Stewart hits this mark at a fair clip, of 50% over her past 20 games, grabbing 6 and 11 boards in two meetings with Vegas this year.
Correlating with this is our model finding value on Wilson to go under 9.5 and on Jones to go under her rebounds line set at the same mark, and still, there's been plenty to go around. In 6 of the last 10 times Stewart hit this, Jones also cleared the line in the same game.
These two teams have plenty of history, including in the Finals and playoffs and with a near 50% split on the spread, our model expects a competitive game.
This is another bet with a Dimers model edge, with just shy of a 50% probability for Stewie to grab at least 9 boards, a clear value with fair odds closer to +100.
